Engineered Wood
There is no disputing the style and elegance that a hardwood floor gives to a room. The gravitas that mahogany gives to a study; the comfort instilled by a pine floor in a kitchen. Whether we aim for a contemporary style or not, most of us still look to the past for inspiration, which for flooring normally means hardwood floorboards. However as twenty-first century citizens we are continuously reminded of the damage that our actions have caused to the environment.
For those of you that yearn for the look of a hardwood floor, take a look at some of the engineered wood floors that are available. Engineered floors are created using a core of plywood or HDF with a veneer of hardwood attached to the top, meaning that less is used of these precious woods. Another benefit of using engineered flooring instead of hardwood flooring is that it is less likely to contract and expand due to changes in temperature, meaning that you’ll have a look of a hardwood floor with the durability of a synthetic product.
