Washlets
A relatively new innovation in bathroom design is the washlet. Stemming from a Japanese toilet company called Toto, washlet toilets include an electric toilet seat with inbuilt sprays used for cleaning. To put it simply, a washlet is a toilet combined with a bidet.
Although many choose to stick to the traditional bidet, the washlet is growing in popularity as it helps to maintain hygiene for those not willing or able to use conventional means of cleaning. Some washlets also come with temperature controls and heated seats, making them much more comfortable than an ordinary toilet.
If you’re looking for an environmentally-friendly addition to the bathroom, the washlet is it. Although it may seem that you are worse off as you are using more water, in fact the additional amount of water pales in comparison to the amount of toilet paper waste recorded every year. A washlet can be bought as a full unit or as a separate toilet seat depending on your budget and style choice. Most washlet units are wall-mounted and have a contemporary design, allowing them it fit into most people’s choice of décor.
